Yuja Wang made her Ljubljana Festival debut with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under conductor Teddy Abrams. In the acoustic clarity of Gallus Hall, her technical brilliance and interpretative daring met an orchestra known for precision, flexibility and chamber-like listening.

The programme crossed the American and European sound worlds of the twentieth century: from the open landscapes of Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring and the virtuoso intensity of Samuel Barber’s Piano Concerto to Paul Dukas’s brilliant fanfare from La Péri and the jazz-inflected music of Alexander Tsfasman. The evening placed virtuosity in a wider orchestral conversation, alive with rhythm, colour and spontaneous energy.

Performance: 1 September 2026, Gallus Hall, Cankarjev dom, 74th Ljubljana Festival.
