Svetlana Zakharova and Vadim Repin brought to the 73rd Ljubljana Festival an evening where ballet and music meet with unusual intimacy: a pas de deux for body and sound, for pointe work and violin line. The stage becomes a shared chamber in which movement listens to music and music answers movement.
Zakharova, prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre and star of La Scala, is known for the clarity, control and dramatic precision of her dancing. Repin, one of the leading violinists of his generation, appears here not as accompaniment but as an equal stage presence. Together with Ensemble Dissonance, the evening unfolded as both concert and dance recital.
