The Staatskapelle Dresden brought Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 6 in A minor to the 74th Ljubljana Festival under its chief conductor Daniele Gatti. The appearance in Gallus Hall formed part of the orchestra’s European tour opening the 2026/27 season.

One of the world’s oldest orchestras met the uncompromising drama of Mahler’s Sixth: driving rhythms, moments of lyrical tenderness and dense orchestral textures leading towards the finale’s famous hammer blows. Gatti’s clear, expressive gestures and the concentrated exchanges between instrumental sections offered a visual counterpart to the work’s contrasts of intimacy and monumental force.

Performance: 7 September 2026, Gallus Hall, Cankarjev dom, 74th Ljubljana Festival.
