Goran Bojčevski brought Balkan Nuevo to the 73rd Ljubljana Festival as a concert built on movement between worlds: Balkan melodic memory, classical discipline, ethno colour and the openness of jazz. In the atmosphere of Križanke, the clarinet becomes both a lyrical voice and a spark for improvisation, carrying the music from intimate phrases into vivid ensemble energy.
Bojčevski, the creator of the balkan nuevo style, was joined by a group of young musicians in a programme of ethno-jazz arrangements, jazz standards and his own compositions. The result is music that lets tradition breathe in the present tense, with each instrument adding its own story to the collective pulse.
